Foundations for Writing
This "all-in-one" tool is a "student-generated" resource for writing that focuses on the process of writing in three distinct areas:
- Foundations of writing:
In this section students learn about the stages of the writing process, developing sentences, paragraphs, parts of speech, and editing their own work.
- Building a work of literature:
Students learn to focus on engaging beginnings, character development, plot, climax, and conclusions. Brainstorming and graphic organizers are explored. They can also organize and practice writing their own stories.
- My samples and ideas for writing:
Students learn about writing in different genre, record books they have read in those genre, and write a sample of their own work in the genre. Students can also practice other types of writing, as well as paste, glue, and make notes about topics they are interested in writing about.
